Did you ever hear the story about Jim Carrey writing himself a $10m check? It goes something like this, he wrote this check, dated a year later, and he carried it in his wallet. I think it was a week before the check was due, so to speak, he landed The Mask for $10m. Naturally, I heard that story, wrote myself a check, did nothing with it, and it hasn't worked (yet). I think I figured out why this ass couldn't cash her check - yet.
Possessed Noun
I’m feeling less like a pronoun and more like a possessed noun. Though my name has two syllables, I find the constant is less my consonants and vowels and more apostrophe s’s. ‘S Mom/wife/daughter whatever. These hats that I wear so much I forget how to take them off. I know it’s a bad day... Continue Reading →
You are not the problem. You are experiencing a problem.
The hardest part about depression is realizing you’re depressed. We all use words to deceive ourselves. It’s not depression, I’m not depressed I’m just like … miserable and I don’t know why. I just know it’s my fault. I’m not depressed, I’m just really tired and cranky. I’m not depressed, I just generally don’t want... Continue Reading →
Coping and Covid – Mental Health is just as important as washing hands
Just thinking out thumbs here: -As social distancing and isolation become a preventative measure, depression and anxiety will follow. -As social creatures, we need human interaction for our mental health. Those predisposed to depression tend to seek out isolation to deal with their mental torment. Isolation helps depression distort the mind. -Depression tells you everyone... Continue Reading →

Life Imitates Art
Have you seen the whole "Shakespeare wrote King Lear while quarantined thing"? It's like an earworm for me. It's not like I'm even wasting my time (on the surface). I'm spending a lot of it with the kids, books I've been meaning to read, journaling I've been meaning to do, introspection I've been avoiding,... Continue Reading →
The Giving Tree (A poem and painting with my daughter)
My daughter asked for us to collaborate on a picture and poetry again. She painted these beautiful works of art and I wrote this for her. She asked me to share it with "other kids who might like it too" So, let us know if your kids liked it! (My girl hustles if you... Continue Reading →
Oops spells Opportunity
The strains, the stagnancy of stress The emphatic escalation of emotion I can’t express It’s like the illusion of ignorance During blissful smiles of self-inflicted duress Cacao is more of a yell than chocolatey goodness Where the cacophony of my mind won’t relent Until I spill words I don’t know like blood on pavement Like...
