How do you feel about cold weather?
I’m gonna go with…. Cold? and not for nothing, this feels like small talk and I’m not great at small talk. “Nice weather we’re having!” “Indeed, all my senses are working today too!”
I’ve generally applied the rule that if you’re cold, you can always add layers, but if you’re hot, there are only so many layers you can remove.
Buddha and others have said about not suffering the suffering so it’s like, it’s hot, it’s cold, and I’m fine either way. I’m not saying that’s me, I shiver and whine like a small child when I’m cold, and I sweat and complain when it’s hot. My perfect temp is like cool enough for a hoodie but warm enough for flip flops.
Actually, I guess one cool thing about cold (ba dum ching) is like, living in the desert, the nights are always cold and the mornings are generally chilly. So I am generally in a hoodie to start and end the day, and hoodies are my favorite. I’m in a hoodie right now, actually. It could get in the 90s/100s, but it will be cold eventually. I get to sleep with my sliding door open/turn the AC off no matter how hot the day was.
I know mentally I perform way worse in the winter than the summer, so I prefer being generally warmer and higher functioning. But there is something about sitting at home maybe the fireplace is going, and the weather is doing whatever it’s doing and you know you’re safe, warm, home, and under a blankie. I do love me snuggling up under a good blankie like any grown ass woman.
I can’t think of any way to make this a bit more interesting, to be honest. Like really, it’s hot, it’s cold, I have yet to figure out how to control the weather so who really gives a shit?
I’ve lived in a lot of places in my life and everywhere I’ve lived (and I mean everywhere) there’s someone who will say, “Don’t like the weather? Wait a minute, it’ll change.” Every. single. place. And the people who say it think that changing weather is unique to their area. I’ve always found that fascinating.
